Halloween is the perfect time to wear a mask

But, before I can be my true self, I must take off my mask.

Easier said than done.

Wisdom Words

Work for a cause...Not for applause.

Live life to express...Not to impress.

Don't strive to make your presence noticed...

Just make your absence felt.

George Bernard Shaw was a vegetarian and someone who was against animal experimentation.  Perhaps he was referring to the "truth" that to be fit for human consumption, products must first be tested on animals.

The Mirror

I read and walked for miles at night along the beach, writing bad blank verse and searching endlessly for someone wonderful who would step out of the darkness and change my life. It never crossed my mind that that person could be me.

Sometimes we need to look in the mirror to find the love of our life.

No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow.

Use It or Lose It

It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives.

It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.

The gym I belong to recently moved to a brand-spanking new location. The move had been in the works for almost 2 years, but I was hoping it wouldn't happen until my contract was done. I was comfortable at the old car knew the way automatically...the old equipment was worn

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.

The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

~Thomas Edison

This is the final and most powerful step to controlling your weight, so pay attention.  They say that hard work is it's own reward, and I suppose in  the case of working hard to shed some extra pounds that's true.  But I believe extra rewards will keep you motivated.  How about these suggestions:

*Splurge on something that you've had your eye on but couldn't justify spending money on.

*Let the laundry and housecleaning go for a day while you relax with your feet up.

*Play hookey and take the afternoon off of work.  Pack a healthy lunch and have a picnic.

*Spend the weekend watching your favorite old movies on TV.

*Have a favorite dessert that you've been avoiding...but only have one!  You don't want to undo all the wonderful progress you've made.

~~Take Action~~

Set a series of 5 pound "goal weights" for yourself.  Each time you reach one, give yourself a reward.  You deserve it.

If you've been doing the steps, you should be seeing some results whether it's in a lost pound or two, extra energy, strong motivation or just an overall feeling that life is good because you're in control. If you haven't been actively putting these strategies to work for you, why not? What are you waiting for?

Break Fast

A day without breakfast surely cannot be one of your best.

A study done at Vanderbilt University in Nashville compared two groups of moderately obese people.  Both groups were put on a 1200 calorie per day diet.  One group has these calories portioned out between breakfast, lunch and dinner, while the second group had the calories divided between

Nothing lifts me out of a bad mood better

than a hard workout on my treadmill. It never fails.

Exercise is nothing short of a miracle.

~ Cher

My last post was about eliminating calories by changing eating habits. Now let's learn about exercising for fun...or "fun-ercising".  Don't make a face or roll your eyes.  All movement burns
